Australia native Sam Coad is in his first season as the Giants' performance manager/assistant strength and conditioning coach.
Coad spent the previous two years working at Texas A&M as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. Prior to Texas A&M, Coad was the performance manager/assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Oklahoma. During his three years in Norman Oklahoma the Sooners won three Big 12 championships and twice appeared in the College Football Playoffs.
Coad first worked in the United States as the performance manager and assistant strength coach at the University of Michigan in 2014. He reported to the school's then strength and conditioning coach Aaron Wellman, who held the same position with the Giants the previous four seasons. Both Coad and Wellman earned PhDs at the Bond University in Queensland, Australia.
Coad made his professional debut in 2011 as the assistant strength and conditioning coach of the as the Gold Coast Titans, a professional rugby team. After a one-year stint with the Titans, Coad held the same position with the Brisbane Lions of the Australian Rules Football from 2012-14.
A native of Katherine in Australia's Northern Territory, Coad earned his PhD in elite athlete recovery profiles and bachelor of sports science at Bond University.
