CBS Sports comes out with new 3-round mock draft
The two-week countdown is on.
In 14 days, the NFL world will converge in Green Bay for the 2025 NFL Draft. Between now and then, expect just about every analyst under the sun to come out with new predictions for how the first round (and beyond) might play out.
The latest to update their projections is CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson, who recently came out with a new three-round mock draft.
With the top two quarterbacks off the board by the time the Giants are on the clock, Wilson has Big Blue selecting Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter at No. 3.
"Hunter is the best athlete -- and the best player -- in this draft class," Wilson wrote. "We've had otherworldly cornerbacks and wide receivers in previous classes but he's a two-fer, able to dominate on both sides of the ball and take over games. The big question: where will the team that drafts him want him to play? And if it's, say, at cornerback, how big will be the package of offensive plays for Hunter. Because lining up for 120 snaps a game, like he's done for the Buffs, isn't sustainable in the NFL."
What more can be said about the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner?
Hunter put together a special season with the Buffaloes last year. As a cornerback, he finished the season with four interceptions, 11 passes defensed, one forced fumble and 36 tackles (25 solo). According to Pro Football Focus, the 21-year-old allowed just 22 receptions for 212 yards and one touchdown in coverage across 13 games, which earned him a passer rating against of just 38.8.
Not only did Hunter serve as a shutdown corner at Colorado, but he also found a ton of success as a full-time wide receiver. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound athlete caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns. The receptions and yards finished within the top five in the nation, while his 15 receiving touchdowns were the second-most.
In addition to winning the Heisman Trophy this past season, Hunter was also named the AP College Football Player of the Year, the Fred Biletnikoff Award winner (given to the nation's top wide receiver), the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, and Unanimous All-American, among numerous other accolades.

Projecting Hunter to the Giants is hardly new, as many draft analysts have done the same over the last few weeks. However, Wilson's picks for the Giants on Day 2 is when we begin to see some new names floated out there.
At pick No. 34, Wilson has the Giants selecting Ohio State offensive lineman Donovan Jackson.
Jackson had a wildly successful collegiate career with the Buckeyes. The 6-foot-4, 315-pound lineman lined up at left guard for his first three seasons in Columbus. Across the 2022 and 2023 campaigns, Jackson allowed a total of just three sacks on his way to back-to-back first-team All-Big Ten selections.
But his most impressive performance came this past season. Following the season-ending injury to Josh Simmons, Jackson kicked outside to left tackle for Ohio State's final nine games. The 22-year-old allowed just two sacks on the season and played a pivotal role in the Buckeyes' run to a national championship. He earned his third consecutive first-team All-Big Ten selection for this performance, along with being named first-team All-American.
With the first pick of the third round (No. 65), Wilson predicts the Giants address the other side of the line of scrimmage with the selection of Florida State defensive tackle Joshua Farmer.
Farmer's best season came in 2023, his first year as a starter for the Seminoles. Across 13 games, the 6-foot-3, 305-pound tackle registered five sacks and seven tackles for loss to go with his 32 total tackles. He was named second-team All-ACC along with the Florida State Defense's Most Improved Player.
He then started all 12 games this past season and recorded a team-high four sacks along with 32 total tackles, including eight tackles for loss. He earned All-ACC honorable mention honors in addition to being named the recipient of the Bobby Bowden Leadership Award.
Wilson then projects the Giants to add a quarterback with their final pick on Day 2 (No. 99 overall) with the selection of Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough.
Shough played seven seasons of collegiate ball with three different schools - Oregon (2018-20), Texas Tech (2021-23) and Louisville (2024).
However, injuries derailed several of Shough's early seasons. It wasn't until his final year at Louisville that the 6-foot-5, 219-pound quarterback was able to play every game for his team before opting to not play in Louisville's bowl game.
Shough went 8-4 as a starter in 2024 and finished the year with 3,195 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and just six interceptions, which earned him a selection as All-ACC honorable mention. He was also named as one of the three winners of college football's Comeback Player of the Year Award.
