5 players to watch vs. Redskins
Keep an eye on these five players as the Giants conclude the first half of the season on Sunday

DT DALVIN TOMLINSON
Tomlinson has started every game since the Giants drafted him in the second round last year, but his role will expand after the team traded Damon Harrison to the Lions this week in exchange for a fifth-round choice in the 2019 NFL Draft.

CB B.W. WEBB
Like Dalvin Tomlinson, Webb's role on the defense grew with the departure of Eli Apple, another starter traded this week. Webb, who is expected to replace Apple in the lineup, has already started four games this season, playing in 80.5 percent of the defensive snaps.

RB SAQUON BARKLEY
The rookie is second only to Todd Gurley in yards from scrimmage this season and will share the field for the first time with Adrian Peterson, whom he admired growing up.

WR STERLING SHEPARD
Shepard averaged an amazing 33.4 yards per catch last week for a career-high total of 167 yards. Offensive coordinator Mike Shula said he is doing a better job of playing the ball in the air.

OLB OLIVIER VERNON
Adrian Peterson has traditionally been a downhill runner, but Redskins coach Jay Gruden has been designing plays for him to get to the perimeter, which is where Vernon will be. The veteran outside linebacker will also help contain Alex Smith, a gritty quarterback with the ability to extend plays with his legs.
