Keep an eye on these five players as the Giants face the Dolphins Friday

CB ELI APPLEAfter signing Janoris Jenkins in free agency, the Giants used the 10th overall draft pick on Eli Apple, quickly making cornerback one of the deepest positions on the roster. The Ohio State product heads into his preseason debut coming off strong showings at practice.

WR STERLING SHEPARDCoach Ben McAdoo said the Giants aren't afraid to play their young players, and Sterling Shepard could be the next rookie wide receiver to break onto the scene. Meanwhile, keep an eye on the Oklahoma product on special teams.

SAFETY DARIAN THOMPSONThe opportunity was there, and Darian Thompson seized it on Day 1. The third-round pick out of Boise State impressed coaches back at rookie minicamp and carried the momentum to training camp and has put himself in the driver's seat to start opposite Landon Collins.

OL BOBBY HARTLast year's seventh-round draft pick is currently behind Marshall Newhouse on the depth chart at right tackle. However, Ben McAdoo said there's "no question" he has an opportunity to start. "He's just got to win the job," the head coach said. "It's there for him."

QB RYAN NASSIBThis is his time to shine. In three preseasons, the backup quarterback has completed 105 of 196 passes (53.6 percent) for 1,313 yards, seven touchdowns, no interceptions, and a passer rating of 86.5.
