The second leg of the 2014 season is upon us.
Fresh off their bye week, the New York Giants (3-4) prepare for a Monday night matchup at MetLife Stadium with the Indianapolis Colts (5-3), who are looking to rebound from a 51-34 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Meanwhile, the NFC East race tightened as the Giants sat idle this week. The Philadelphia Eagles (5-2) lost to the Arizona Cardinals before the division-leading Dallas Cowboys (6-2) fell to the Washington Redskins (3-5), snapping their six-game winning streak.
With Week 8 officially in the books, Giants.com takes a look at power rankings coming in from outlets across the country:

"Giants GM Jerry Reese said he wants the team's offense to be more aggressive. It would make sense to get Eli Manning passing more downfield, because that was one of his strengths before this season. According to Pro Football Focus, Manning's 22 attempts of 20 yards or more are tied for 25th most in the NFL (tied with Stanton, who started only three games) and he has completed just five, tied with Charlie Whitehurst and Blake Bortles for 28th." -- Frank SchwabNFC East:

"The Giants return from their bye with two straight losses and a difficult upcoming schedule. The next four games are against the Colts, Seahawks, 49ers and Cowboys. There is a run of seemingly winnable games following that. But the Giants must jump-start their play right now for their December games to matter." -- Mark MaskeNFC East:

"Big Blue was off in Week 8. This team is 3-4, having lost its last two games, but all is not lost. Certainly not with the level that Eli Manning has played at for most of the season. The concern is that, with the Lions winning, it might be tough to catch Detroit, Green Bay, Dallas or Philadelphia for one of the wild-card spots -- especially considering the Giants have lost to all of them but the Packers." -- Elliot HarrisonNFC East:
