The New York Giants (0-1) face the Washington Football Team (0-1) in a primetime matchup on Thursday Night Football.
Coach Joe Judge said at the beginning of the short week that the plan, barring any unforeseen setbacks, was for Saquon Barkley to play his second game in five days after suiting up for the first time in nearly a year in Week 1. Meanwhile, Washington's Taylor Heinicke will start at quarterback for Ryan Fitzpatrick, who suffered a hip injury in his team's opening loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
"I would say unless the medical team tells us something else, our intention is going to be to keep on progressing [Barkley] throughout the season and playing with him, unless there's some kind of setback," Judge said. "Look, he came out Sunday night, from all accounts, in a good position. Our plan to this point is to go ahead and include him in the game plan."
Indeed that will be the case. Barkley was not on the inactive list, which is released 90 minutes prior to every game.
