The 2023 season is right around the corner, and the Giants are looking to take the next step in Year 2 under general manager Joe Schoen and coach Brian Daboll.

The intensity will ratchet up this week with the team in Detroit for two rounds of joint practices before the preseason opener against the Lions on Friday night.

To discuss the week ahead, veteran wide receiver Sterling Shepard joined "Inside Training Camp Live" on NFL Network after Monday's practice.

"Just looking forward to going against someone else," Shepard said. "We have been going at it against each other for a couple of weeks now. It's good to go against some other guys that haven't gotten to see the offense and get a real good look at what we are going to be looking at game time."

In addition, Shepard, who is the Giants' longest-tenured player, discussed his comfort level in returning to the same offensive system and what the future may hold.

"Everybody's got a good grasp on what they like and how the is stuff ran, so I think it's been looking good at practice and excited about new stuff," Shepard said. "Coach Daboll loves throwing in new stuff everyday. We're constantly adding some things to the play list and I'm looking forward to it."
