Saquon Barkley, Dexter Lawrence named to PFWA All-NFC Team
The 2022 season has officially come to an end, but the accolades continue to roll in for some of the team's top players.
Running back Saquon Barkley and defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence were both voted to the 2022 Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) All-NFC Team, the PFWA announced Monday.
Barkley did not miss a single game due to injury, marking the first time he's remained healthy throughout the season since his rookie year. The fifth-year running back ran for a career-high 1,312 yards, the fourth-most in the NFL this season, and scored 10 touchdowns to go with his 57 receptions for an additional 338 yards.
As for Lawrence, the fourth-year defensive lineman enjoyed a true breakout campaign. He set new career-highs with 7.5 sacks and 28 quarterback hits, shattering his previous bests of 4.0 sacks and 11 QB hits. Lawrence also established new personal bests in total tackles (68), tackles for loss (seven), pass breakups (three) and forced fumbles (two).
After never topping 69 percent of defensive snaps played in his first three seasons, Lawrence played a whopping 82 percent of the Giants' defensive snaps in 2022 (864 snaps).
It was the first selection to the PFWA All-NFC Team for both players. Barkley was chosen for the PFWA All-Rookie Team back in 2018, while Lawrence earned the same honor after his rookie campaign the following year.
Both Barkley and Lawrence were also selected to the Pro Bowl this season. It was the second time the running back has achieved this honor and the first for the defensive lineman.
Lawrence was also named AP Second-Team All-Pro this year.
