2 Giants land on PFF's top rookies list

The rookie class was undoubtedly one of the biggest bright spots of the Giants' 2024 season.

The Giants were among the league leaders in offensive and defensive snaps played by rookies, finishing just 162 snaps shy of the Los Angeles Rams for the most in the NFL. Not only did the Giants' first-year players get on the field a lot, but they also produced at a high level.

Pro Football Focus recently released their list of the top 15 rookies from the 2024 campaign, which featured two Giants - wide receiver Malik Nabers came in at No. 3, while cornerback Dru Phillips finished at No. 13.

Nabers put together a historic rookie campaign as he finished as the Giants' single-season receptions record holder with 109 receptions, which he took for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. The receptions were two more than Steve Smith's former franchise record of 107, which he set in 2009.

His 109 catches rank as the most by a rookie wide receiver in NFL history, topping the 105 receptions the Rams' Puka Nacua had in 2023. Raiders tight end Brock Bowers finished the year with 112 receptions, which set the new NFL rookie reception record.

The 21-year-old wideout recorded five or more receptions in 14 of 15 games he played in, the most games with five or more catches by a rookie in NFL history.

Nabers finished the season ranking fifth in the NFL in receptions and seventh in receiving yards, despite missing two games and catching passes from four different quarterbacks.

As for Phillips, the rookie cornerback played in 14 games with six starts. He registered 71 total tackles (46 solo), seven tackles for loss, one sack, two forced fumbles, and one interception.

According to PFF, the slot corner allowed just 41 receptions for 373 yards and one touchdown on 335 snaps in coverage.

Of the 77 corners from across the league that played at least 600 snaps this season, Phillips finished as PFF's seventh-best cornerback overall and the second-best among rookies, behind only Philadelphia's Cooper DeJean.
