Michael Strahan, Tiki Barber named finalists for Senior Bowl 75th Anniversary Team
The Senior Bowl is celebrating its 75th anniversary this upcoming February.
To mark the special occasion, fans will vote for members of the Senior Bowl 75th Anniversary Team, a nod to some of the sport's all-time greats whose journeys ran through Mobile, Alabama.
The Senior Bowl Selection Committee narrowed the vote down for fans by naming finalists from every team, all of whom were on NFL rosters from 1998-2023 (in order to avoid duplicating members of the 50th Anniversary Team).
Several Giants legends were named finalists, including Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive end Michael Strahan and the franchise's all-time leading rusher, running back Tiki Barber.
After being selected in the second round (No. 40 overall) of the 1993 NFL Draft out of Texas Southern, Strahan went on to collect 141.5 sacks, officially the sixth-most in NFL history, on his way to a Hall of Fame career. Strahan finished his 15-year NFL career, all of which was spent with the Giants, just a half-sack shy of Lawrence Taylor for the unofficial franchise sack record.
Barber, a second-round pick (No. 36 overall) out of Virginia in 1997, also played all 10 of his NFL seasons for the Giants, six of which he topped the 1,000-yard rushing mark. His 10,449 rushing yards on 2,217 carries are both franchise records.
Dave Meggett, a fifth-round pick of the Giants (No. 132 overall), was also named a finalist for the Senior Bowl 75th Anniversary Team. Meggett spent his first six NFL seasons with the Giants, was twice named All-Pro as a punt returner and was a part of the team's Super Bowl XXV Championship team.
The other former Giant to be selected as a finalist is tight end Evan Engram, who is currently a member of the Jaguars. Engram caught 262 passes for 2,828 yards and 16 touchdowns across five seasons with the Giants and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2020.
