In his latest mock draft following the first week of free agency, Kiper predicted the Giants add an explosive playmaker with the sixth overall pick in the form of Rome Odunze.
"This would make back-to-back-to-back quarterbacks at the top of the board and then back-to-back-to-back wideouts right after that," said Kiper, who predicted Williams, Daniels, Drake Maye, Harrison and Nabers as the first five picks. "That's how loaded these groups are. The Giants have improved their receiving corps over the past two years -- Darius Slayton, Jalin Hyatt and Wan'Dale Robinson are their top three guys right now -- but they don't have a true No. 1 guy who can dominate on the outside. They could add that in Odunze, a touchdown machine in a 6-foot-3 frame."
Odunze was one of the top wide receivers in the country this past season as he caught 92 passes for 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound wideout registered 100 or more receiving yards in 10 out of 15 games, which led to him being named Consensus All-American in addition to first-team All-Pac-12.
It marked the second consecutive season in which he was selected first-team all-conference. As a redshirt sophomore, he caught 75 passes for 1,145 yards and seven touchdowns.
Odunze lands at No. 3 on Daniel Jeremiah's latest top 50 prospect rankings.
"Odunze is a big, athletic wideout with exceptional hands," wrote Jeremiah. "He can play outside or in the slot. He is refined and polished in everything he does on the field. He uses a variety of releases at the line of scrimmage and is a clean route runner. He uses his strength to lean into defenders before separating out of the break point. He thrives in traffic, possessing the ability to pluck the football and absorb big shots over the middle of the field. He makes some incredible adjustments on poorly thrown balls. He tracks naturally over his shoulder. After the catch, he is very tough to bring down and has some nifty make-miss ability. He plays with a ton of passion and energy. Overall, Odunze is a complete player and reminds me of Larry Fitzgerald coming out of college."
NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah released his updated ranking of the top 50 prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft.
