NFL.com's Lance Zierlein updates Giants prediction in latest mock draft

With the Combine now in the rearview mirror, the pre-draft process kicks into high gear.

Following the week in Indianapolis, NFL Network draft analyst Lance Zierlein released his latest mock draft.

After projecting Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter to the Giants in his first mock draft, Zierlein now predicts Miami quarterback Cam Ward to the Giants at No. 3.

"He's a serious-minded quarterback with a big arm and the ability to grow into a dangerous pitch-and-catch combo with Malik Nabers," wrote Zierlein.

Ward put together a dominant campaign for the Hurricanes after transferring there for the 2024 season. This led to him finishing fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting.

The 6-foot-2, 219-pound signal-caller completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. Ward also enjoyed plenty of success running the football, as the young quarterback rushed for 17 touchdowns across his final three collegiate seasons between Miami and Washington State.

Ward earned numerous accolades for his performance, including Consensus All-American, ACC Player of the Year, and the Davey O'Brien Award, along with several others.

In this latest mock draft, Zierlein has the Titans selecting Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter with the first overall pick, and follows that up with Hunter going to the Browns at No. 2. This paved the way for the Giants to stick at No. 3 and still land the draft's top quarterback in Ward.

Here are the first five picks in Zierlein's updated mock draft:

  1. Tennessee Titans - Abdul Carter, Edge, Penn State
  2. Cleveland Browns - Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado
  3. New York Giants - Cam Ward, QB, Miami
  4. New England Patriots - Armand Membou, T, Missouri
  5. Jacksonville Jaguars - Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona
