Giants legends tee it up at American Century Championship

From Justin Timberlake to Charles Barkley, sports and entertainment celebrities took center stage this past weekend at the 32nd American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in California.

In all, the star-studded field represented 16 Hall of Famers, 13 MVPs, and 15 Cy Young Award winners. Michael Strahan, Justin Tuck, and current Giants tight end Kyle Rudolph were part of the contingent of 39 current or former NFL players and coaches who teed up, but it was a basketball player who took home the hardware. Vinny Del Negro became the first player from his sport to win the tournament, edging out Hall of Fame pitcher John Smoltz in a playoff. Former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo finished third.

The 2021 American Century Championship utilized the Modified Stableford scoring format where points were awarded as follows: 10 for a double eagle, 8 for a hole-in-one, 3 for a birdie, 1 for par, 0 for bogey, and minus-2 for double bogey. Strahan finished tied for 64th with former Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk; Rudolph ended one shot behind Larry the Cable Guy at 70th; and Tuck finished 78th on the leaderboard, falling just behind Barkley and Titans head coach Mike Vrabel (tied for 76th) and ahead of longtime NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie.
