Dexter Lawrence lands at No. 8 on PFF's top 101 players of 2023
Pro Football Focus recently took a look back at this past season to name the top 101 players from 2023.
Coming in at No. 8 was Giants defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence.
"Lawrence doesn't get enough appreciation for what he achieves because he aligns mostly as a true nose tackle within the Giants' defense," wrote PFF's Sam Monson. "He notched 65 total pressures over the year, tied for fourth among interior linemen, but he racked up more pressures from a nose tackle alignment than any other lineman by an order of magnitude. Lawrence is a throwback player who dominates in today's league."
The fifth-year lineman was once again one of the most dominant interior defensive linemen in the NFL this season. He registered 4.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, 21 quarterback hits and two passes defensed to go with his 53 total tackles (32 solo). He did this despite missing the game against the Patriots and playing limited snaps in the final five games of the season.
Lawrence also recorded 65 total pressures on the season, which topped his previous career-high of 63 set last year.
Since the conclusion of the regular season, Lawrence has found himself on the list of this year's top players from numerous outlets. He was named second-team All-Pro by the Associated Press in addition to making the NFLPA's Players' All-Pro Team, both for the second consecutive season. This came after he was also named to his second straight Pro Bowl.
