Make the Case: Projections for Rounds 1-2

MAKE-THE-CASE-6

"Make the Case" is officially back on Giants.com for the 2025 NFL Draft.

In this series, we look at projections provided by analysts and then ask you, the fans, to weigh in on what the Giants should do in the draft.

With the draft exactly one week away, we're going to take a look at multi-round mock drafts from The Athletic's Dane Brugler and NFL.com's Chad Reuter.

Pick at No. 3: Abdul Carter, Edge, Penn State

Height: 6-foot-3 | Weight: 250 pounds

2024 Stats: 16 games, 68 tackles (43 solo), 12.0 sacks, 23.5 tackles for loss (led the nation), 2 forced fumbles, 4 passes defensed

Accolades: Unanimous All-American (2024), Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year (2024), Smith-Brown Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year (2024), 2x First-Team All-Big Ten (2023, 2024), Second-Team All-Big Ten (2022)

"Like Cleveland, the Giants are looking for the "right" quarterback — but with Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston on the roster, they also don't need to force anything. Pass rusher might not be a screaming need, but you draft players not positions in the top three, and Carter is a true impact player."

Pick at No. 34: Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama

Height: 6-foot-2 | Weight: 217 pounds

2024 Stats: 13 games, 2,844 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 64.3 completion percentage, 726 rushing yards, 20 rushing touchdowns

Accolades: William V. Campbell Trophy (2024), Second-Team All-SEC (2023)

"As I reported last week, Milroe has accepted his invitation to the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, creating even more intrigue about when he will hear his name called. I like this fit for both sides — a young, dynamic quarterback for the Giants to develop, and a landing spot for Milroe where he won't be thrust onto the field before he's ready."

Pick: Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

Height: 6-foot-1.5 | Weight: 212 pounds

2024 Stats: 13 games, 4,134 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 74.0 completion percentage, 4 rushing touchdowns

Accolades: Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year (2024), Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award (2024), First-Team All-Big 12 (2024), Deacon Jones Trophy (2022), SWAC Offensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-SWAC (2022), Jerry Rice Award (2021), SWAC Freshman of the Year (2021), Second-Team All-SWAC (2021)

"The Giants appear determined to field a deep quarterback room after enduring mediocre play at the position over the past few seasons. Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston are nice additions who should ensure a strong veteran presence that could help Sanders settle in as the team's future QB1."

Pick at No. 34: Tyler Booker, IOL, Alabama

Height: 6-foot-5 | Weight: 321 pounds

2024 Stats: 13 games, 395 pass block snaps, 0 sacks allowed (according to PFF)

Accolades: Second-Team All-American (2024), 2x First-Team All-SEC (2023-24)

"Two-year starter and team captain with elite physical traits. Booker is a downhill run blocker with average explosiveness into first contact, but he utilizes his size and power to overtake defenders in the second phase of the block. He can play too far out over his toes but that's correctable. Booker is an average athlete in protection but makes up for it with technique and football intelligence to defend against twists. He's tough, smart and a top leader. The traits, football character and play strength will make him a good starter for a downhill, power-based attack." -- NFL.com's Lance Zierlein
