Before the Giants took the field for Tuesday's practice, Brian Daboll was asked how he handles outside expectations for the upcoming season, which is 40 days away.
"You just focus on this year," Daboll said. "This will be my 24th season. I've been part of 15 winning seasons, eight losing seasons, one season won a Super Bowl, the next year not make the playoffs. It's really what you do each and every year. We've said that after the first year, I'll say it again after the second year. We have a new team, new people in the building, and we're going to work as hard as we can work to be as good as we can be."
The Giants were back in full pads today at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. Players will be off Wednesday and return Thursday, starting the countdown to next week's preseason opener against the Lions.
Here are the highlights from training camp practice No. 6:

TOUCHDOWNS
The offense did much of its damage in 1-on-1 drills from inside the 10-yard line. Daniel Jones threw short touchdowns to wide receivers Dennis Houston, Isaiah McKenzie, Wan'Dale Robinson, Miles Boykin, Darius Slayton and Isaiah Hodgins (twice). The first Hodgins score was farther back and proved to be the offensive highlight of the day, with the receiver making an over-the-shoulder catch before somersaulting in the end zone. It was Hodgins' second consecutive practice with a touchdown. He also scored on a deep pass from Jones on Monday.
Tommy DeVito threw a long touchdown to undrafted rookie receiver John Jiles during 1-on-1 drills. Drew Lock also got on the board with touchdowns to Houston and Gunner Olszewski, who shook three defenders loose with nice moves.
TAKEAWAYS
Cornerback Dru Phillips, a third-round pick out of Kentucky, continues to make his presence felt. The physical rookie jumped a route for an interception during 1-on-1 drills.
"Anytime you can play football and put the pads on, it just clicks something different inside most people, like me," Phillips said on Tuesday, the first day in pads. "It just amplifies it a lot more. I had so much fun out there."
Second-year safety Gervarrius Owens, meanwhile, turned in the play of the day. The former seventh-round draft choice deflected a pass heading for the sideline and, after a few bobbles, secured the football for the pick. Owens also had an interception on Monday off a tipped ball by cornerback David Long Jr.
TOP PLAYS
Have no fear, Nick McCloud is here. The cornerback did his best superhero impression, flying out of nowhere to break up a deep pass down the left sideline. On the very next snap, he almost had an interception on a pass across the middle, but he couldn't hang on to complete the bang-bang play.
Speaking of close calls, outside linebacker Brian Burns, who is playing through an ankle issue, nearly had an interception off a tipped pass by defensive lineman Jordon Riley.
Linebacker Matthew Adams, who was the only one of the Giants' 90 players to attend Monday's 9 a.m. team meeting in full uniform, including shoulder pads, punched out the ball for a forced fumble late in Tuesday's practice.
"I came here to practice," Adams said on Monday. "I'm staying ready, so you don't have to get ready. I felt real good being back in pads. The first day of getting pads, it's a lot different than just shorts and shirts. You just come out there and set the tone. I felt right at home."
Inside linebacker Dyontae Johnson notched a would-be sack.
"Making the most of his opportunities," Daboll said of Johnson before practice. "He's done a good job I'd say in both phases, defense and special teams. This will be an important training camp for him. It will be an important preseason for him, which it is for a lot of young players."
