Giants.com is counting down to the start of the team's 2023 training camp with 23 questions in 23 days.
Each day, a member of the crew will answer one question about the roster, coaching staff, schedule, and much more.
11) How does the 2023 schedule look for the Giants?
Based on combined winning percentages from the 2022 season, the Giants are tied with the Patriots and Cowboys for the third-toughest schedule. They trail only the Dolphins (0.554) and Eagles, who have the "toughest" lineup with a combined opponent winning percentage of 0.566. The Falcons have the "easiest" at 0.417.
With that in mind, it's never wise to jump to conclusions based off previous seasons, especially in the NFL.
Since 1990 (33 straight seasons), at least four teams have qualified for the playoffs in every season that were not in the postseason the year before. The Giants were one of six teams to do just that a year ago. The others were the Vikings, Chargers, Ravens, Jaguars, and Dolphins.
Additionally, at least two teams have won their divisions the season after missing the playoffs in 19 of the last 20 seasons, and at least one team has gone "worst to first" in 18 of the last 20 seasons.
That's a lot of numbers to say that you shouldn't give two John Michael Schmitz about the previous season when it comes to the current one.
