CBS Sports highlights Malik Nabers' dominance in training camp

Malik Nabers has made a strong impression over the first few weeks of training camp.

During the two joint practices against the Detroit Lions, the 21-year-old wide receiver caught nearly every pass thrown in his direction during team drills, something he did throughout the first week of camp, as well.

CBS Sports recently compiled a list of the top rookie standouts across the league from training camp, in which Nabers landed at the very top of the list.

"While (Marvin) Harrison went ahead of Nabers in the first round, it's hard to say any rookie has single-handedly added more electricity to his team's offense than the splashy LSU product," wrote CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin. "Hardly a day goes by without Nabers securing a highlight-reel grab, either going deep or working the sidelines, and it's easy to forecast him opening 2024 as Daniel Jones' No. 1 target ... by a long shot."

The Giants used the sixth overall pick on the former LSU wideout following his successful career with the Tigers.

Nabers finished the 2023 campaign at LSU with 1,569 receiving yards, which marked his second consecutive year with more than 1,000 yards. He also recorded 89 receptions and lead the FBS in receiving yards while ranking No. 2 in receiving touchdowns at the conclusion of the regular season.

The young receiver also registered the most 10+ yard plays, 20+ yard plays and 30+ yard plays in the nation last year while finishing his collegiate career as LSU's all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards. Nabers was named Unanimous All-American and first-team All-SEC for his standout 2023 campaign.

Nabers' performance this summer has not only stood out among the rookie class. In a separate article on CBSSports.com, the young receiver was mentioned as one of the most unstoppable players at any training camp.

"Also our top rookie standout of camp, the first-round pick has lived up to the hype and then some as a preseason darling," wrote Benjamin. "Hardly a single offensive drill has gone by without the slippery LSU product stretching the field and/or producing a highlight-reel grab. He's worked the sidelines. He's worked the red zone. He's drawn effusive praise from those around him. There is no doubt Nabers is poised to be New York's go-to."

The New York Giants hosted the Detroit Lions for joint practices ahead of Thursday's preseason opener.
