Pro Football Focus praises Kayvon Thibodeaux's growth in rookie season
Kayvon Thibodeaux has really picked things up over the last few weeks.
The rookie outside linebacker has 17 total pressures over the last three games, including seven quarterback hits and a sack. Going up against one of the top offensive lines in the league last week, the No. 5 overall pick had four pressures on just 15 pass rush snaps against Philadelphia's Jordan Mailata, one of the rising offensive tackles in the league. The four pressures allowed matched the most Mailata has given up in a single game all season. Thibodeaux's performance earned him some praise from Pro Football Focus.
"Thibodeaux continues his impressive rookie season," PFF's Timo Riske wrote. "The Philadelphia Eagles' passing game is arguably the league's hardest to rush, yet Thibodeaux racked up four pressures across only 15 pass-rush snaps against Mailata."
"Thibodeaux has some juice as a pass-rusher and ranks third among rookies in total pressures this season (36)," added PFF's Sam Monson.
The only rookies with more total pressures this season are Detroit's Aidan Hutchinson (39) and Kansas City's George Karlaftis (37), both of whom have played in all 13 games. Meanwhile, Thibodeaux missed the first two games due to a knee injury. Thibodeaux has at least three total pressures in seven of 11 games.
The 21-year-old now has two sacks, 10 quarterback hits, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and three pass breakups this season.
With Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari both in the lineup the last two weeks for the first time in over two months, the pair of young outside linebackers combined for a total of four sacks and 18 pressures.
