Malik Nabers named to CBS Sports' Preseason All-Rookie Team
While we may only be a few days into training camp, Malik Nabers has already made quite a strong first impression.
Many members of the media agree.
CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso recently named his 2024 Preseason All-Rookie Team which featured the No. 6 pick as one of the two perimeter wide receivers.
"Nabers was my WR1 in the 2024 class, so he gets the first nod here..." writes Trapasso. "Speed and YAC make for a sturdy foundation at the receiver spot."
Nabers finished the 2023 campaign at LSU with 1,569 receiving yards, which marked his second consecutive year with more than 1,000 yards. He also recorded 89 receptions and lead the FBS in receiving yards while ranking No. 2 in receiving touchdowns at the conclusion of the regular season.
The young receiver registered the most 10+ yard plays, 20+ yard plays and 30+ yard plays last year. He finished his collegiate career as LSU's all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards, and was named Unanimous All-American and first-team All-SEC for his standout 2023 campaign.
Nabers also brought in 72 passes for 1,017 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore in 2022.
The rookie wide receiver, who just turned 21 on Sunday, has been making big plays on a daily basis during training camp.
"His mentality is the mentality you need to have," head coach Brian Daboll told the media last week. "He's humble, but he works extremely hard. We've moved him in a lot of places. I'd say for a young receiver, a lot of times you put [them] at one spot. So, it's a credit to him and the amount of work that he puts in. He knows he's got a long way to go. It's just a couple practices, but obviously we thought he was a good player where we selected him. I told you I love the person. I love his competitive desire, his will, his grit, if you will."
The other perimeter wide receiver selected to CBS Sports' Preseason All-Rookie Team was Arizona's Marvin Harrison Jr., the fourth overall pick in the draft. Meanwhile, Cleveland's Jamari Thrash, the No. 156 overall pick, was Trapasso's selection for the slot wide receiver spot.
