PFF, CBS Sports agree on Giants' prediction in latest mock drafts

The calendar has flipped to March, which means the NFL Combine is behind us and free agency is right around the corner.

Before the attention turns towards the veterans hitting the open market, several media outlets released updated mock drafts now that the week in Indianapolis is complete.

Pro Football Focus' Trevor Sikkema and CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson put out their latest mock drafts Monday morning, with both analysts projecting Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter to the Giants at No. 3.

"There are rumors of New York trading up to No. 1 overall for its preferred quarterback (I assume it's Cam Ward), but I'll leave that scenario for another mock," wrote Sikkema. "Instead, I could see them drafting the best football player in the class, Travis Hunter, and being very happy about what he and Malik Nabers can do for them for years to come."

The 2024 Heisman Trophy winner put together a special season with the Buffaloes.

As a cornerback, Hunter finished the season with four interceptions, 11 passes defensed, one forced fumble and 36 tackles (25 solo). According to Pro Football Focus, the 21-year-old allowed just 22 receptions for 212 yards and one touchdown in coverage across 13 games, which earned him a passer rating against of just 38.8.

Not only did Hunter serve as a shutdown corner at Colorado, but he also thrived as a full-time wide receiver. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound athlete caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards and a whopping 15 touchdowns. While the receptions and yards finished within the top five in the nation, his 15 receiving touchdowns were the second-most.

"Travis Hunter is the best athlete in this draft class," Wilson wrote. "We've had otherworldly cornerbacks and wide receivers in previous classes but he's a two-fer, able to dominate on both sides of the ball and take over games. The big question is where will the team that drafts him want him to play? And if it's, say, at cornerback, how big is the package of offensive plays? Because lining up for 120 snaps a game, like he did for the Buffs, isn't sustainable in the NFL."

In addition to winning the Heisman Trophy this past season, Hunter was also named the AP College Football Player of the Year, the Fred Biletnikoff Award winner (given to the nation's top wide receiver), the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, and Unanimous All-American, among numerous other accolades.

Hunter is considered by many analysts to be the best overall prospect in this year's draft.
