The New York Giants will have a new quarterback when they return to action on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Coach Brian Daboll announced Monday that Tommy DeVito will start in place of Daniel Jones. Drew Lock will serve as the No. 2 quarterback.
The 2-8 Giants have lost five consecutive games, including a 20-17 overtime loss to the Carolina Panthers in Germany before the bye week.
It will be the seventh career start for DeVito, who went 3-3 last season after he was thrust into the role as a third-string undrafted rookie. DeVito has appeared in nine games overall and completed 64.0 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns to three interceptions for a career passer rating of 89.2. Last year, he became the first undrafted rookie since 1970 to have three consecutive games with a passer rating above 100.
DeVito grew up in Cedar Grove, N.J., and played at Don Bosco Prep.
