EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Giants this morning adjusted their roster as they prepared to resume practice after yesterday's first off day of training camp.

They signed cornerback Breon Borders and waived quarterback Nathan Rourke.

In addition, rookie tight end Theo Johnson passed his physical and will come off the active/physically unable to perform list and practice for the first time.

Borders, 6-0 and 189 pounds, played in 32 regular-season games with six starts for Jacksonville, Washington, Tennessee, Arizona and Chicago from 2018-22. Borders played in a postseason game for Buffalo in 2017 and has also spent time with Oakland, Pittsburgh, Miami and New England, which released him in January. He did not play in the NFL in 2023 and played in just one game, for the Bears, in 2022.

His career totals include 41 tackles (34 solo), one interception and seven passes defensed.

Rourke was awarded to the Giants off waivers on May 7, one day after he was released by the Patriots. With Daniel Jones, Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito ahead of him, Rourke received few practice reps in the first week of camp.

Johnson was the Giants' 2024 fourth-round draft choice, No. 107 overall. He was placed on PUP on July 16.

Johnson played in 45 games with 29 starts in four seasons at Penn State and caught 77 passes for 938 yards (12.2-yard avg.) and 12 touchdowns.

In 2023, he started all 13 games and posted career-high totals of 34 receptions, 341 yards, and a team-high-tying seven touchdowns, and was selected honorable mention All-Big Ten.

Johnson rejoins a group of tight ends that includes Daniel Bellinger, Lawrence Cager, Chris Manhertz, Jack Stoll and Tyree Jackson.
