EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Giants welcomed back one defensive back at the same time an injury forced them to remove another from their roster.
Safety Logan Ryan was activated off the Reserve/COVID-19 list after missing the last two games, against Tampa Bay and Philadelphia. He takes the roster space vacated by cornerback Darnay Holmes, who was placed on injured reserve with a rib injury.
Ryan, one of the team's defensive captains, had a team-long streak of 24 consecutive starts and led the Giants with 72 tackles (47 solo) when he went on the reserve list two weeks ago. Linebacker Tae Crowder has since taken over the team tackles lead with 79.
Ryan will return to the lineup when the Giants play Sunday in Miami.
In his absence, Julian Love played all 145 defensive snaps against the Buccaneers and Eagles.
Holmes has played in all 11 games with four starts this season. He was injured after intercepting Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts two days ago, his first pick of the season and second of his career. Holmes also has 29 tackles (20 solo).
