Presser Points: Takeaways from Coach Brian Daboll

The 2-13 New York Giants wrap up their 2024 home slate on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, who improved to 7-8 last week with a 38-30 victory over the Tennessee Titans (Indianapolis led 38-7 with three minutes left in the third quarter).

The Giants practiced Tuesday at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center and will take off Christmas Day before returning on Thursday. Coach Brian Daboll met with the media beforehand. Here is everything you need to know:

📰 Daboll thinks Drew Lock will be OK to start again on Sunday. The quarterback underwent an MRI Monday on his throwing shoulder.

📰 If Lock starts for the second consecutive week and fourth time this season, Tommy DeVito will be the backup again.

📰 The following players did not practice today: ILB Micah McFadden, RB Tyrone Tracy Jr., WR Malik Nabers, C John Michael Schmitz, CB Greg Stroman, S Raheem Layne, DL Cory Durden, CB Dru Phillips. "It's early in the week."

📰 Phillips, a rookie nickel cornerback, has "done a nice job" and shown to be a "physical player." He is part of a lot of run fits as an aggressive tackler and continues to improve. "He definitely has a lot of upside."

📰 A lot of the rookies have "really done a nice of performing when they've had opportunities."

📰 On the decision to start Lock, Daboll said it will be good to get two weeks of the same cadence and play-caller on the field in the huddle.

📰 The Giants are "trying to get a win in any way, shape, or form."

📰 The Giants face three of the top five rushers in final four weeks of the season: Philadelphia's Saquon Barkley, Baltimore's Derrick Henry, and Atlanta's Bijan Robinson. Well, Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts is not far behind and just ran for 218 yards and three touchdowns last week. Taylor is an "explosive player" who is "big, strong, and fast."

📰 Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is an "explosive athlete [with] a cannon for an arm." He runs but is "plenty talented enough to throw it where he needs to throw it."

📰 Richardson can "affect any part of the field" whether it's with his legs or throwing however far he needs to throw it.

📰 Rookie linebacker Darius Muasau, who is in line to make his sixth start, is "smart, tough, instinctive" and has been productive when he's been able to play. He possesses the "right traits" and has "continued to develop."
