EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Hit with a spate of injuries at a position not normally affected by them, the Giants today signed one of the most accomplished kickers in NFL history for the season's final three games.
Mason Crosby, who spent 16 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, joined the roster as Cade York became the third kicker to go on injured reserve. York, who was scheduled to make his Giants debut Monday in Philadelphia, injured his quad in practice. He joins Graham Gano (knee surgery) and Randy Bullock (hamstring injury suffered last week in New Orleans) on I.R.

Crosby, 39, is 11th on the NFL's career regular season scoring list with 1,918 points and fourth in postseason scoring with 163 points. He is Green Bay's all-time leader in points, field goals (395), 50+-yard field goals (43) and extra points (733). Crosby never missed a game, playing in all 258 regular season and 23 postseason contests in his career.
The Packers did not re-sign Crosby after the 2022 season, when he succeeded on 25 of 29 field goal attempts (86.2%) and 37 of 39 PATs. He was on the Los Angeles Rams' practice squad from Dec. 6-12.
Crosby's career regular-season totals include 395 field goals - 14th all-time - on 485 attempts (81.4%) and 733 extra points on 753 tries (97.3%). He is 43-for-78 (55.1%) from 50 or more yards, with a long kick of 58 yards in 2011. Crosby scored more than 100 points in each of his first 10 seasons and in 15 of his 16 years in Green Bay. He kicked the nine longest field goals in Packers' history (one 58-yarder, three 57-yarders, four 56-yarders, and a 55-yarder). Crosby holds the Green Bay record with 27 consecutive field goals made from 2020-21. He also held the former mark of 23 in a row.
In his 23 playoff games, Crosby made 31 of 35 field goal attempts (88.6%) and all of 70 of his extra point tries. He kicked four extra points and a 23-yard field goal in the Packers 31-25 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV in February 2011. Crosby holds the NFL record for most consecutive postseason field goals made with 23 straight from 2010-16.
Crosby played eight regular season and three postseason games vs. the Giants. In the regular season, he made 11 of 14 field goal attempts and all 26 extra point tries. On Dec. 4, 2011, Crosby kicked a 31-yard field goal as time expired to give the Packers a 38-35 victory against the Giants n MetLife Stadium.
In three postseason games vs. the Giants – including the 2007 NFC Championship in frigid Lambeau Field – Crosby succeeded on all five of his field goal and all nine extra point attempts.
Crosby also has touchbacks on 504 of 1,341 kickoffs (37.6% in the regular season) and 36 of 119 (30.3%) in the postseason.
Crosby joined the Packers as a sixth-round draft choice from Colorado in 2007. As a rookie he led the NFL with 141 points, a career high he tied in 2013. Crosby also scored 140 points in 2011. He joins Stephen Gostkowski, Justin Tucker and David Akers as the only players in NFL history with at least three 140-point seasons.
Crosby has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week seven times and Player of the Month twice.
This has been a season of uncommon turnover at the kicking position for the Giants.
They began the year with Gano, who had scored 337 points and made 89 of 97 field goal attempts (91.8%) in his first three seasons with the team. He also set franchise records by making 37 consecutive attempts and kicking 20 field goals of 50+ yards.
In this season's first eight games, he missed six of 17 field goal attempts, in part because of issues with his left knee that eventually sent him to surgery and injured reserve.
On Nov. 3, the Giants signed York to their roster and Bullock to the practice squad. Bullock, however, kicked in each of the last six games. But he suffered a hamstring injury kicking off after making a 56-yard field goal Sunday in New Orleans. The Giants' last three points in the game were scored on a 40-yard field goal by punter Jamie Gillan.
The Giants had planned for York to kick in the season's final three games, but he left practice yesterday with the quad injury.
When Crosby attempts his first field goal, this will become the first season in Giants history in which four different players handled that duty.
