Q: How do you prepare for the New Orleans game?A: The first thing we have to do is come in and look at ourselves very critically in the mirror. That is what today was all about and that is what we did. We looked at our mistakes and we looked at what we did well also and we will learn from those mistakes. That is the next step and we have to put that game in the past now. Now we have to make steps forward and basically the best way to get over a loss is to get a win the next week.
Q: What are some of the things you can correct?A: We can correct it all, it wasn't about physical effort or anything like that. It was more mental. That is what we talk about in meetings. We have to mentally know our responsibilities and not do other people's jobs. We have to make those plays when they come to us.
Q: How disappointing was it to have a game like that and not play at your best?A: It is disappointing because we get ready all week and we understand the magnitude of the game. It was a divisional opponent, at home and in the second half of the season. Those are the games we need to win and to put ourselves in a position that we want to be put in and make the playoffs and go where we want to go. To not win that game and take advantage of that opportunity is very hurtful.
Q: How do you feel you played personally?A: I think that I played well for about 85-90 percent of my snaps and that other 10-15 percent is where I had the mental mistakes and it hurt the team a little bit. I need to look at those plays and really reflect on those and figure out why I made that mistake and how can I correct it the next time, to be able to show confidence in myself so that the team has confidence in me.
Q: How does having a start under your belt give you confidence going into the New Orleans game?A: It definitely gives me confidence because the more experience, the better. I think either way I expect perfection from myself. No one can reach perfection but that is what I expect.
