The Giants have signed running back James Robinson.
Robinson has played 39 games with 32 starts across three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets. The 24-year-old's career totals include 2,262 yards on 514 rush attempts (4.4 avg.) and 18 touchdowns, in addition to 91 receptions for 617 yards and five receiving scores.
The 5-foot-9, 219-pound back originally went undrafted out of Illinois State in 2020. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a rookie free agent and went on to start 14 games his first season. He finished the year with 240 carries for 1,070 yards (4.5 avg.) and seven touchdowns along with 49 receptions for 344 yards and three additional scores. Robinson was rewarded for his performance by being named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
In 14 games (13 starts) in 2021, Robinson rushed for 767 yards on 164 carries (4.7 avg.) and a career-high eight touchdowns. He added 31 receptions for 222 yards before his season was cut short when he tore his achilles in Week 16.
Robinson played 11 games (five starts) between the Jaguars and Jets last season, when he finished with 425 yards and three touchdowns on 110 attempts. The veteran also caught 11 passes for 51 yards and two touchdowns.
During his time at Illinois State, Robinson was selected First-Team All-MVFC from 2017-19 in addition to First-Team FCS All-American in 2019.
The Giants also signed veteran wide receiver Cole Beasley on Friday.
