CHRISTIAN-HOLMES-PRIMEPOINT

The Giants claimed cornerback Christian Holmes off waivers from the Washington Commanders on Monday.

In a corresponding move, running back Jashaun Corbin has been waived/injured.

Holmes was drafted in the seventh round (No. 240) of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Commanders. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound cornerback has played in 30 games with two starts over the last two seasons, primarily on special teams. His career totals include 20 tackles (11 solo), one pass defensed and two fumble recoveries.

After beginning his collegiate career at Missouri, Holmes transferred to Oklahoma State where he played for two seasons. During his senior year in 2021, Holmes registered 39 tackles (33 solo), one interception and seven passes defensed on his way to being named second-team All-Big-12. He also earned first-team Academic Big-12 honors as a super senior.

Between his time at Missouri and Oklahoma State, Holmes played in 60 games (27 starts) and finished with 30 total pass breakups and three interceptions.

Corbin originally signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2022, where he spent most of the season on the practice squad. After being waived as part of final roster cuts in 2023, Corbin landed on the Carolina Panthers' practice squad. The Giants re-signed Corbin to their active roster prior to Week 8.

In six games with the Giants, Corbin caught three passes for 12 yards in addition to one rush attempt for one yard. He also contributed on special teams, registering three tackles (two solo).
