EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Giants continued to tinker with their roster today, less than 24 hours before opening the mandatory minicamp that will end their official offseason work.
They signed two players – tackle Jarron Jones and defensive back Kenneth Durden - and waived rookie free agent tackle Tyler Howell. Neither Jones nor Durden has played in an NFL regular-season game.
Jones, 6-6 and 320 pounds, was signed as a rookie free agent by the Giants on May 11, 2017, from Notre Dame. He played in all four preseason games before being waived on Sept. 2. Jones was on the practice squads of the Seattle Seahawks (Sept. 4-12) and Dallas Cowboys (Sept. 20 through the end of the season). He was waived by Dallas on May 21.
Jones was a defensive tackle at Notre Dame, where he totaled 105 tackles 59 (solo), including 4.5 sacks.
Durden, 6-1 and 180 pounds, was signed as an undrafted rookie by the Oakland Raiders on May 10, 2016, from Youngstown State. He spent the entire 2016 season on the Raiders' practice squad. Durden was released by Oakland on Sept. 2, 2017. He was on the Tennessee Titans' practice squad from Sept. 5-Oct. 3.
Howell, another rookie free agent, was signed by the Giants on May 10. He played college football at Missouri.
