Q: What are the emotions of opening game?
A: I think it is going to be extremely high not only for us but for Washington, too. It is going to be one of those games that you want to pay your respects for all the lives lost in 9/11 and all affected. You want to go out and give a good showing and bring some joy to a lot of heavy hearts.
Q: Are you excited about the opener?
A: The only way you get past injuries is going out there and playing. Our approach to it is, regardless of who is out there on the football field, 11 guys have to go out there and play Big Blue style of defense and offense. We are not asking for a pity party and it would not do us any good to ask for one. We have to go out there and play regardless of who is on the football field.
Q: How are you?
A: Decent. I am getting there.
Q: Will you be there Sunday?
A: I will be there Sunday.
Q: On the field?
A: Somewhere on the field.
Q: It is getting better?
A: Not as fast as we want it to, but it is getting better.
Q: What is the injury?
A: Honestly I probably have told you guys too much already. I can get fined for talking about injuries so what are you trying to do, set me up? I am sure coach Coughlin gave you all some answers today.
Q: Do you feel differently when it is an injury to the neck?
A: Yes, absolutely. I have played through a lot of stuff and hopefully I can play through this one.
Q: Will it be strange to see Cofield on another team?
A: No question. I have talked to Cofield a lot and you want the guy to have a good year, just not this game.
Q: How different will the Redskins running game be?
A: I don't know. We will see. It is not about who they have back there. We know that they are going to do what they do. Shanahan has a great track record of having a great running game, that Denver running game. It is all about how we play it and hopefully we can do some things to put them in a situation they don't want to be in.
Q: Why do you feel so strongly about firefighters?
A: Honestly it just started with them asking me to do it. I respect what they do and I really respect them putting their lives on the line to save a lot of people. They are kind of like teachers, they don't get the respect that they are due, so anytime I can get the chance to share some light on it and a little praise, then I am all for it.
Q: Your injury is nothing like Kiwi's right?
A: No, it is not.
Q: It is not a structural thing?
A: No, it is not.
Q: You didn't think it was this big of a deal did you?
A: No, I didn't.
Q: How concerned are you?
A: I am concerned but I am not panicked. Like I said, it has not healed as fast as I would want it to, but like I said I am not panicked by it. It is getting better just not as fast as I want it to.
