Q: Did Beatty come back?**
A: He did. He practiced. Did you see him pop out at the end?
Q: Does that affect your thoughts on the 53-man roster?
A: I don't want to speak about it. Just being quiet about it, he practiced a little bit.
Q: Anything new on Sash?
A: His ankle's not going to let him go evidently. Tomorrow's a new day though.
Q: Relatively good news there, no break?
A: No, no breaks.
Q: Will he be allowed to be here for treatment during his four-week suspension?
A: I don't believe they are allowed in the facility. I could be wrong on that though. Thank God I don't have a lot of experience with that, a suspended player.
Q: Is he meeting with the commissioner today?
A: He is.
Q: Any word?
A: No word. Not yet.
Q: Is there a chance you could have a resolution on Shaun Rogers before the roster breaks down to 53?
A: Again, medical people have not given me that kind of information. So I would say speculation only.
Q: Is Hakeem playing in the last preseason game?
A: We'll see. I'm going to check. We were scheduled to go outside (practice was moved indoors due to rain) as you know, and right at the time of practice we got the storm, so we came in here, and if he did well in here, then I would feel pretty good.
Q: Starters going to play a little bit?
A: Right now, yes.
Q: A series maybe?
A: I don't know, we'll see.
Q: So both sides of the ball will start?
A: As of right now, yes. That could change.
Q: Are you trying to get Beatty some reps against the pass rush?
A: It's just day-by-day. We'll see how he did, and how he feels later on today and tomorrow.
Q: Where was Justin Tuck?
A: Those guys all made the trip over to HSS (Hospital for Special Surgery). They had various appointments with Dr. Warren over there, so this was the day to do that.
Q: What was Tuck's issue?
A: Shoulder. It's just a precautionary test to see exactly where he's at, and what needs to be done, so he's ready to go for the season.
Q: Any news on Prince?
A: (shakes head) He was hobbling around without the boot today.
Q: James Brewer went to HSS?
A: I think we hired a bus to take everyone.
Q: Thoughts on Coe last game:
A: I like the way he covered, he was right up there, he was competitive. He was combative at times. So we'll see.
Q: Thoughts on Canty going to the PUP for first six weeks:
A: The only thing I can tell you is that we sort of expected that to be the case. We dealt with the thought of how fast he ought to come back, and it's better for the player and team as well that he has this extra time?
Q: Do you have any doubt that he will be able to come back after this time?
A: I don't. No I don't, but I tend to be that way.
Q: Everything that you heard is that the next month will be really good for him and then he should playing?
A: His prognosis really just has been ongoing. The doctors have been positive all along. I don't expect anything different from them.
Q: You mentioned the injuries at the cornerback position. Here you are without Canty, Austin, Pierre-Paul, Tuck… Is this something that's a worry for you on the frontline too?
A: If you're talking about tomorrow, that's one thing. But if you're talking about Wednesday, that's one thing. If you're talking about next week, I feel obviously a lot better.
Q: Do you feel better about it if we're talking about the opener?
A: That's what I'm talking about.
Q: Do you feel like most of these guys are going to be back in time?
A: You can't lump them all together. You've got to take them one at a time and try to assess where they all are. Do I expect the three ends back? Yeah, I do. Do I expect Marvin Austin? I don't know about that one. Everyday, I want to know more and more about that and it starts going one way and then there's a little issue.
RE: Running game given the fact that David Wilson had a strong game?
A: What happened the other day was he was able to get outside and in so doing helped a whole schematic approach to it because when people load up on us, they load up with 27 guys standing shoulder to shoulder. If we can get a guy to get outside, maybe that will give us some opportunities up inside and hopefully that's the direction we're going. We'll have a better mixture as we get going in terms of the ability of going inside and outside.
Q: Pleased with what you saw with Rocky Bernard in the preseason?
A: Rocky has played well. He's been solid. Very solid.
Q: At this stage, can he shoulder the load?
A: I think he can. He wouldn't be here if he couldn't do the job.
Q: Did you say what Brewer's injury was?
A: I'm taking the fifth.
