Top-Five Plays of 2013: No. 2

The Play: Trailing by a touchdown with 5:06 remaining in the game against the Detroit Lions, safety Will Hill intercepted Matthew Stafford's pass intended for tight end Joseph Fauria, and returned it 38 yards for a touchdown. The play propelled the Giants to overtime in Detroit, where Big Blue eventually won, 23-20, on a 45-yard field goal from Josh Brown.

The Tip: Fauria runs an out route looking for a first down, but Stafford throws the ball slightly wide. Fauria gets his fingertips on the pass, but it is deflected to Hill, who has a knack for being in the right place at the right time.

The Payoff: Hill intercepts the ball in stride and takes it down the sideline for a 38-yard pick-six to tie the game. "I just saw the ball take off in the air and just took advantage of the situation in cover-four," Hill said after the game. "I was overseeing three players and once I saw the ball tip off his hands I just saw daylight."

The Momentum Swing: "Huge," Justin Tuck said at the time. "I mean Will is one of those guys who is always around the ball, always in the right places and that play is an example of that. It got us right back in the game. It was the biggest play of the game for us. He has been that way all year. Just in the right places at the right times. He always does his job and has really matured this year opposite of Terrell (Thomas) and has been a big factor of what we do on defense."

The Coach's Take: "The clock is running on us and Will Hill makes his interception touchdown off of the tipped ball," Tom Coughlin said. "That was a wonderful thing for our team.  That was a huge lift and I think that probably provided us with that boost that we needed right then, to go into overtime and see it through."
