Giants sign LB Reggie Ragland, former 2nd rounder

RAGLAND

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Giants have signed linebacker Reggie Ragland.

Ragland, 6-2 and 252 pounds, was a second-round draft choice (41st overall) in 2016 by the Buffalo Bills, but never played a down for the team. He suffered a torn ACL in his rookie training camp and was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs for a fourth-round draft choice on Aug. 28, 2017. He played three seasons for the Chiefs before joining the Detroit Lions as a free agent last year.

Ragland has played in 58 regular-season games with 38 starts and in six postseason games with four starts – including Kansas City's victory against San Francisco in Super Bowl LIV, a game in which he had two tackles. His career totals include 210 tackles (130 solo), 3.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in the regular season and 30 tackles (21 solo) and one interception in the postseason.

In 2020, Ragland played in all 16 games with six starts for the Lions. He had 51 tackles (30 solo), 1.0 sack, four tackles for loss and one forced fumble.

Ragland, 27, played on two national championship teams at the University of Alabama, where in 2015 he was a unanimous All-America and the Southeastern Conference's Defensive Player of the Year.
