Dexter Lawrence joins Saquon Barkley on NFL Top 100 Players of 2023

The New York Giants are coming off their most successful season in more than a decade, and no one played a bigger hand in it than Dexter Lawrence and Saquon Barkley.

Their peers around the NFL noticed.

The defensive tackle joined the running back on the Top 100 Players of 2023, with Lawrence making his career debut at No. 28. It is the highest a Giant has been voted since Barkley came in at No. 16 in 2019. Barkley made his third career appearance this year at No. 31, which was also his ranking in 2020.

For the 13th consecutive year, current NFL players voted to determine list, which was rolled out on NFL+ over the past few weeks.

Lawrence, the 17th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, blossomed into one of the best defensive tackles in the league last season. He was selected to the Pro Bowl and named second-team All-Pro as he finished with career bests in tackles (68), solo stops (35), as well as team-best totals in sacks (7.5), tackles for loss (7, tied with Jihad Ward) and quarterback hits (28).

Lawrence was the first Giants defensive lineman to be selected to the Pro Bowl since end Jason Pierre-Paul in 2012, and the first interior lineman to go since nose tackle Erik Howard in 1990.

The Giants rewarded one of their biggest building blocks with a lucrative four-year contract extension, but the Clemson product doesn't want to talk about the future. The time is now for him and the Giants.

"I don't want to talk about building," Lawrence said at the start of camp. "It's more about doing at this point. Going into my fifth season, I hate losing. I don't really want to talk about building. I want to talk about what we are doing today to get better for tomorrow, and then that day leads into the season. You all can talk about building, but our mindset is winning."
