Malik Nabers, Tyrone Tracy Jr. named to PFWA All-Rookie Team

NABERS-TRACY-PFWA-ALL-ROOKIE

Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. have been named to the 2024 All-Rookie Team by the Pro Football Writers of America, the PFWA announced Tuesday afternoon.

Nabers and Tracy became just the third rookie duo in NFL history, and only the second since the 1970 merger, to each have 1,000 yards from scrimmage. Their 2,329 combined yards of offense set a Giants rookie record, beating the 2,191 combined yards from Odell Beckham Jr. and Andre Williams in 2014.

The sixth overall pick in last year's draft put together a rookie campaign for the history books, as Nabers finished with the Giants' single-season record of 109 receptions, which he took for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. The receptions were two more than Steve Smith's former franchise record of 107, which he set in 2009.

Nabers' 109 catches rank as the most by a rookie wide receiver in NFL history, topping the 105 receptions the Rams' Puka Nacua had in 2023. Raiders tight end Brock Bowers finished the year with 112 receptions, which set the new NFL rookie reception record. The 21-year-old wideout recorded five or more receptions in 14 of 15 games he played in, the most games with five or more catches by a rookie in NFL history, beating out the previous record of 12 such games by Terry Glenn and Anquan Boldin.

Nabers finished the season ranking fifth in the NFL in receptions and seventh in receiving yards, despite missing two games and catching passes from four different quarterbacks.

As for Tracy, the rookie running back was given a chance to start in Week 5 after playing in a reserve role in the first four games. The fifth-round pick took advantage of this opportunity and never looked back.

Tracy finished the season with 839 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, with an average of 4.4 yards per carry, while adding 38 receptions for 284 yards and an additional score as a receiver. He ranked second among rookie running backs in Giants history with his 839 rushing yards, 1,123 scrimmage yards and 38 receptions, trailing only Saquon Barkley in all three categories.

Tracy also finished third among the league's rookies in both rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, while ranking sixth in scrimmage yards.

Nabers and Tracy are the first Giants to receive PFWA All-Rookie Team honors since outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux in 2022. Defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence was also named to the All-Rookie Team in 2019.

On Monday, the PFWA announced that Lawrence had landed on their 2024 All-NFC Team for the third consecutive year, despite missing the final five games of the season.
