East Rutherford, NJ – The New York Giants and Gatorade have selected Mr. Bryan Gallagher of Morris Knolls High School (Rockaway, NJ) as the Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Week for Week 8 of the 2024 season. The Golden Eagles improved to 7-0 and claimed the Super Football Conference Liberty White Division title on Friday night in Rockaway with a hard-fought 35-28 victory over the Morristown Colonials.

The Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Week Award is part of the Giants' continuing effort to support local high school football programs. The Giants elected to name the award in memory of former Union High School (NJ) coach, Lou Rettino, for his fine commitment to the game of football, his community and the betterment of his athletes' lives. Each week during the high school football season, the Giants selected one area high school head coach as the Coach of the Week winner. The selection is based on the coach's continuing commitment towards promoting youth football, developing motivated student-athletes and contributing overall to their community.

In recognition of Coach Gallagher's selection as Coach of the Week, a $2,000 check will be granted to the school's football program from The Giants Foundation and Gatorade. He will also receive a certificate of recognition signed by Giants head coach Brian Daboll, and will be honored at a dinner following the season, as well as a 2025 pre-season home game.

Gallagher, a 1999 graduate of Morris Knolls High School, was named head football coach at his alma mater in December, taking over for his former head coach Bill Regan. Regan has the most all-time coaching victories (280) in Morris County history and four sectional titles over 49 years of coaching, and Gallagher has made sure that the Golden Eagles continue to build on that legacy under his leadership.

Coach Gallagher began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Hamilton High School West in 2003. In 2004, he moved on to become an assistant coach at Montville High School while his father, Gerry Gallagher, was the head coach. He held this role until 2010, when he became the head coach at Boonton High School in 2011 where he led his teams to an impressive 67-56 record, including a North 1 Group 1 title in 2019. Gallagher was also named Giants Coach of the Week in 2015 during his time in Boonton. Coach Gallagher grew up in Rockaway, NJ and graduated from Morris Knolls High School in 1999, where he played football and baseball. Upon graduation, he attended The College of New Jersey, where he continued to play football until graduating in 2003. He is happily married to his wife Lauren, and the proud father of his five year old son Kellen – two of the Golden Eagles biggest fans!

Morris Knolls is also the alma mater of Giants offensive lineman, Jermaine Eluemunor, who moved to Denville, NJ from London, England, at 14 years old having never played football. He ended up wrestling and playing offensive tackle for the football team, eventually starring at Lackawanna Junior College for two years, and then shining in two seasons for Texas A&M before being drafted in the 5th round by the Baltimore Ravens.
