- DAN SALOMONE: Fact -It's been the emphasis all offseason. The Giants are getting back to basics, and that means bolstering the offensive line. Tom Coughlin wanted some bigger and younger bodies, and he got them. He'll be looking for a spirited training camp from this group, which has a mixture of veterans, newcomers, and draft picks. Let the games begin.
Aside from quarterback, wide receiver is the toughest position to make an impact as a rookie.
- JOHN SCHMEELK: Fact -This is another reason I answered fiction to the first question. It will be interesting to see how Beckham adjusts to the pro game. It helps he comes from a pro system and is a pretty polished route runner, but he needs to get stronger and get used to the physicality of the bigger corners in the NFL. The hope is that the new offense will be easier to adjust to than the one under Kevin Gilbride. The benefit of Gilbride's system is that when it was running on all cylinders it was impossible to stop, just ask Carlos Rogers.
- DAN SALOMONE: Fiction -I'm going with the position in charge of stopping them: cornerback. Wide receiver is up there, but raw athleticism can sometimes cover up mistakes at the position. Cornerbacks don't have that luxury. They're diagnosing everything in reverse, and the rules are already tilted in the offense's favor to begin with. **
The Giants' interception leader in 2014 will be a safety. **
- JOHN SCHMEELK: Fact -The only corner that might be able to make this a fiction would be Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, but I think Antrel Rolle or Stevie Brown will lead the team in picks as teams try to go over the top to beat the Giants corners who will run much more press coverage this year. I also expect the Giants to blitz more which will provide opportunities down the field to make some plays.
- DAN SALOMONE: Fact -With Antrel Rolle and Stevie Brown, a safety has taken home the crown for two straight seasons. I think 2014 will be the third. Cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie does make it interesting, but Rolle's ability to be a ball hawk in Perry Fewell's defense and Brown's penchant for knowing where to be and when to be there make me say fact.
Damontre Moore will finish second on the team in sacks this season.
- JOHN SCHMEELK: Fiction -I'm buying on Damontre Moore this year, just not this high. I think he will be an effective situational pass rusher, but I'm not sure he will finish with more sacks than Mathias Kiwanuka or Cullen Jenkins. Moore has to show enough to get on the field. Once he earns snaps, I think sacks will come. But it is time for him to translate his athletic talent into production.
- DAN SALOMONE: Fiction -He needs to earn his way onto the field first and foremost before penciling him ahead of anyone. With Justin Tuck gone, the defensive line loses not only production but also a leader. Moore has to first go through proven veterans like Cullen Jenkins, Mathias Kiwanuka, and Robert Ayers to help fill the void. I need to see it first.
