Scott Hamel is in his third season as a Giants area scout and his second covering the Southeast. In his first season with the team, he was responsible for the Southwest region.
Hamel joined the Giants in 2022 after a seven-year stint with the Chicago Bears, for whom he was first an NFS (combine) scout and then an area scout in the Midwest (2017-20) and Southeast (2021).
Hamel previously spent four years at Northwestern University, first as an offensive quality control coach, then as a graduate assistant working with the wide receivers and offensive line and lastly as the assistant director of player personnel.
Hamel was a walk-on running back/fullback at the University of Michigan. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in sport management in 2006 and then worked in finance in Chicago until 2011. Hamel earned an MBA from DePaul University in 2011 and a master's degree in liberal studies from Northwestern in 2014.
Hamel was an all-state running back and linebacker at Rye High School in Westchester County, N.Y. He and his wife, Lizzie, have two daughters, Molly (5) and Annie (3).
