Players to Watch vs. Chargers
Keep an eye on these players as the Giants face the Chargers Sunday

DE Justin Tuck/DE Mathias KiwanukaComing off his four-sack performance, Tuck was quick to credit Mathias Kiwanuka as the unsung hero of the Redskins game. While the sack numbers have been down this season, the defense is ninth in the NFL against the run and 13th against the pass. "The word 'sack' is a way for us to knock a guy when they don't get on the board, but he might be playing and doing a hell of a job like Justin Tuck is doing, in the run game," Perry Fewell said. "Kiwi finished the game for us against the Raiders with a sack-caused fumble and so Tuck was able to come and do that last week. I think they're going to complement each other and you'll see Kiwi come back and have a strong game, if not this game, the next game. It's important because that's what the media and that's what the fans talk about, sacks, sacks, sacks, but those guys do a hell of a job with their workload in playing the run game and that takes a lot of work, too."

TE Brandon MyersMyers is coming off back-to-back games with key touchdowns as the Giants have won five out of six games. The first-year Giant battled a groin injury late in the week but is probable for Sunday in San Diego, where he and his quarterback, Eli Manning, will hope to keep the momentum going. "Yeah, we're just connecting," Myers said. "When my number's called, you always just try to make the play. There's obviously some unfortunate things that went on early in the season that you can't really control now, you've just got to move on and make plays."

RB Andre BrownIn four games since his return, Brown has averaged 4.1 yards per carry for 343 yards and three touchdowns, two of which came in last week's win over Washington. With Brandon Jacobs still injured, Brown and Peyton Hillis will look to shoulder the load again this week.

CB Jayron Hosley/CB Trumaine McBrideWith McBride injured last week, Hosley became the fifth cornerback to start opposite Prince Amukamara this season and held his own in the most meaningful snaps he's played since last season. McBride remains questionable for San Diego with a groin injury while Corey Webster (ankle) has been ruled out, meaning Hosley could make an impact in back-to-back games. "I was very proud of Jayron with the way he came in and played in the football game," Fewell said. "There was some friendly fire. On one of the plays he came up to crack support, run support, and Beason was in his way and he knocked the (hell) out of (Jon) Beason and so he showed me right there that he's not afraid to hit something. He covered well and so he did some things that we saw in the football game that he was ready to come back and play and I thought his quickness matched up with some of the quickness that the receivers have from the Redskins."

QB Eli ManningAside from the Philip Rivers and the 2004 NFL Draft storylines, Manning and the Giants are winless against the Chargers in the Tom Coughlin era. While the game will be billed as "Manning vs. Rivers," it's really about two teams trying to win and hold onto any playoff hope. "I know Philip, I met Philip in college and did some football camps and different things together," Manning said. "I've sent him text messages and called him over the years, congratulate him on seasons and different things. I've gotten to be around him some and I think he's a tremendous player and I've always kept up with him, just because he came out the same year and followed him in college and knew him a little bit. He's had a tremendous career and is playing great this year and he's a good football player."
