Key Stats to Watch in 2016
Giants.com breaks down five key stats the team will focus on in 2016

GREEN ZONE OFFENSEWhen the Giants began offseason workouts, offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan said the Giants have two main areas they're looking to improve on offense. The first is scoring from the red zone, or the "green" zone as it's called around here. In 54 trips to the green zone, the Giants scored 24 touchdowns, or 44.4 percent of the time (tied for 29th in the NFL).

THIRD-DOWN OFFENSEThe second item on Sullivan's checklist was third-down production. The Giants converted 37.8 percent of their third downs, good for 22nd in the NFL.Â

SACKSThe Giants finished 30th in 2015 with 23 sacks, down from the 47 they notched the year before. They brought in Oliver Vernon, who had 7.5 sacks and 36 quarterback hits last year in Miami, and re-signed Jason Pierre-Paul to lead the resurgence in 2016. On the flipside, the Giants allowed only 27 sacks on offense, tied for fourth-fewest in the league.

TWO-MINUTE DEFENSEFive of the Giants' 10 losses last season were decided by a field or less, and eight out of 10 were decided by six points or less. In the fourth quarter, the Giants allowed 140 points, tied with New Orleans for the most in the NFL. Meanwhile, the Giants allowed 29 points on 25 drives that began with two minutes left in the half or less.Â

BIG PLAYS (20+ YARDS)The Giants allowed 74 plays of 20 yards or more last season, fourth-most in the league. Of those, 62 were big passes and 12 were big runs. Overall, the Giants allowed 18 touchdowns from long distance, the most in the NFL.Â
