First Quarter Standouts
As the calendar flips to October, the Giants --and all NFL teams who didnât yet have their bye weeks -- find themselves at the quarter-mark of the 2014 season.

STANDOUT ON OFFENSE: QB Eli ManningThrough the first four games in offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo's new system, Manning is on pace for his best season in completion percentage at 66.9. In the last two weeks, Manning is 49 of 67 for 534 yards, six touchdowns and one interception (plus a one-yard touchdown run). Overall, he is 93 of 139 for 974 yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions.>>WATCH ELI MANNING HIGHLIGHTS

STANDOUT ON DEFENSE: CB Prince AmukamaraIn his fourth NFL season, Amukamara leads the Giants with seven passes defended and 19 solo tackles. He is tied with safety and defensive co-captain Antrel Rolle with two interceptions, both coming in the last two games. >>WATCH PRINCE AMUKAMARA HIGHLIGHTS

STANDOUT ON SPECIAL TEAMS: P Steve WeatherfordAs he pushes through an ankle injury he suffered in Week 1, Weatherford has landed half of his 18 punts inside the 20-yard line, while opponents have an average starting field position at their own 26. His nine punts inside the 20 are one behind a three-way tie for the NFL-lead (Ryan Allen, Dustin Colquitt, and Mike Scifres each have 10).

STANDOUT ROOKIE: LG Weston RichburgThe second-round draft pick out of Colorado State has started all four games at left guard, becoming the second consecutive rookie offensive lineman to do so for the Giants. In 2013, first-round draft choice Justin Pugh started at right tackle for all 16 games. Before Pugh, the last Giants' rookie lineman to start from Week 1 was Chris Snee in 2004. Richburg is keeping good company.

UNSUNG HERO ON OFFENSE: Offensive LineAfter allowing nine quarterback hits and two sacks in the season opener, the line has buckled down while the chemistry continues to build with a consistent lineup. Since Week 1, the Giants allowed Manning to be hit just four times in three games against the talented fronts of Arizona, Houston, and Washington. Meanwhile, they paved the way for a rushing attack that averaged 142.7 yards in those games.

UNSUNG HERO ON DEFENSE: CB Trumaine McBrideComing off their second loss to start the season, the Giants had to find a replacement for Walter Thurmond III, one of the best slot corners in the game, when they placed him on season-ending injured reserve due to a pectoral injury. They turned to the veteran McBride, who started 10 games last year in his first season with the Giants. Since then, McBride has been impressive with seven tackles, one interception, one sack, and a forced fumble.>>WATCH TRUMAINE MCBRIDE HIGHLIGHTS

MOST SURPRISING: TE Larry Donnell The former practice squad player, who worked his way into a starting role this season, has quieted questions about the Giants' group of tight ends. While already leading the Giants in most receiving categories heading into Week 4 against Washington, Donnell had a breakout game last Thursday with three touchdowns. He is the first tight end in franchise history with at least four touchdowns and 25 receptions in his first four games.>>WATCH LARRY DONNEL HIGHLIGHTS

PRIMED FOR BREAKOUT: DE Robert Ayers Jr.Since joining the Giants this offseason after spending his first five NFL seasons in Denver, Ayers leads his new team with 2.0 sacks, which puts him on pace for the best season of his career in that category. >>WATCH ROBERT AYERS HIGHLIGHTS

TOP OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE: Donnell's 3 TDs vs. WashingtonFrom five yards out and twice from six, Donnell caught three touchdowns from Manning in the first half of the Giants' 45-14 victory on the road against the Redskins.>>WATCH LARRY DONNELL'S 3 TD GAME HIGHLIGHTS

TOP DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE: Defensive Unit's 6 takeaways vs. WashingtonFor the first time since 1972, the Giants hadn't forced a turnover in their first two games of the season. They have been on a tear since, notching six against Washington on Thursday night. Rolle, Amukamara, McBride, and safety Quintin Demps each had an interception, while defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins and McBride recovered the fumbles (defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka forced the fumble that Jenkins jumped on). >>WATCH DEFENSIVE HIGHTLIGHTS VS.
