5 players to watch vs. Jaguars
Keep an eye on these five players as the Giants face the Jaguars on Saturday

LB DEVON KENNARD After linebacker Devon Kennard recorded 4.5 sacks in six starts as a rookie last season, Steve Spagnuolo knew he would be getting a prized weapon when he took over as the Giants' defensive coordinator. Fittingly, Spagnuolo has been lining him up pretty much everywhere but the secondary this summer. Look for him to make plays from the linebacker position as well as on the defensive line in passing situations. "Devon Kennard, in a lot of places right now," Spagnuolo said. "He's a good football player. He looks like they're supposed to look. He's versatile in that he can play off the ball as a linebacker, in my opinion. He plays up on the line as what we call a SAM linebacker. And sometimes, we put him down there to rush. That means we've got a pretty good football player. So keep him healthy, don't overload him. And yet he wants more and more. So I think those are all good qualities."
![CB TREVIN WADE
Trevin Wade just keeps making plays. The fourth-year pro who previously played for the Saints and Browns notched the Giants' first interception of the preseason last week in Cincinnati, returning it for 61 yards late in the fourth quarter. He came back to training camp only to end Wednesday's practice with a pick-six.
"He's done a nice job," Spagnuolo said. "When a guy steps up, he's around the ball, he's making plays—he made a big one at the end [against the Bengals], I think you have to recognize that. At first I don't think anybody really knew where he was, as a player. But it's good to see him, I'd like to see more guys do that."](https://static.clubs.nfl.com/image/private/t_new_photo_album/t_lazy/f_auto/giants/rmy0otxzv45mouydebju.jpg)

RB ORLEANS DARKWA Orleans Darkwa led the Giants in rushing in their preseason opener, carrying the ball nine times for 52 yards, including a 1-yard dive into the end zone for the offense's lone touchdown of the night. After beginning his NFL career in Miami last year, he scored his first touchdown for the Giants in Week 16 at St. Louis. "Last year his special teams were outstanding," coach Tom Coughlin said. "He's always been a pretty good—he's run the ball on scout team for us, and done a nice job of that, too. So he has some power, he has some punch, he's run the ball up in there for us. You know he gives you some more flexibility. Thinking about having a guy who can run behind the line of scrimmage and can play special teams."

OL BOBBY HART Seventh-round draft pick Bobby Hart turned heads with his play over the last few weeks, bumping up to the second team at right tackle, where he started the last two years at Florida State and won a national championship. Hart, who can also play inside at guard, will look to keep the momentum going on Saturday against the Jaguars. "Bobby is a young, talented man," offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo said. "He's a rookie and has to figure some things out, but I think he has some ability and at some point in time may be able to help us."

WR DWAYNE HARRIS In his drive to become a bigger factor on offense after being a special teams ace in Dallas, wide receiver Dwayne Harris is heading into his second preseason game with a strong week of practice at training camp. Coughlin was disappointed with the entire wide receiver corps in the opener, but Harris will try to turn that around after recording one catch for 15 yards in Cincinnati. He also returned two punts for 11 yards. "Dwayne is a guy that when the lights came on the other night, you could see some physicality from him," McAdoo said. "He's a guy that doesn't mind getting mixed up in the run game. He's working to learn the offense from a couple different positions inside and outside. He'll have some opportunities here over the next few weeks moving forward. It'll be good to see him out there."
