July 28 - The New York Giants report to the Quest Diagnostics Training Center for physicals and conditioning evaluation, marking the start of training camp. In his opening remarks, first-year head coach Ben McAdoo says, "Our goal is still to put the fifth trophy in the case."

July 29 - The Giants hold their first practice of training camp, which is mostly a jog-through. Linebacker J.T. Thomas (hamstring) and defensive tackles Damon Harrison (knee swelling) and Jay Bromley (offseason ankle procedure) begin camp on the physically unable to perform list. Wide receiver Victor Cruz is cleared to practice.

July 30 - After rain pushed the first practice of training camp indoors a day earlier, the gates open to a "sea of red, white and blue," in the words Coach McAdoo. Linebacker Devon Kennard intercepts Eli Manning on the very first play of 7-on-7 drills.

July 31 - Beckham leaves practice with a "cut or two" after being accidentally cleated by cornerback Janoris Jenkins on a deep route. While the injury would not be serious, GM Jerry Reese also addresses the media that day, saying, "We've got a great atmosphere here, a lot of positive energy around."

Aug. 1 - The league announces that two-time Super Bowl winning head coach Tom Coughlin has been named NFL Senior Advisor to Football Operations.

Aug. 2 - The Giants strap on the shoulder pads for the first time of training camp. Defensive tackle Damon Harrison returns from PUP list.

Aug. 3 - Rookie wide receiver Sterling Shepard, the Giants' second-round draft pick out of Oklahoma, puts together a strong practice for the second consecutive day. Coach McAdoo also says that rookie running back Paul Perkins, the team's fifth-round choice, jumped out to him.

Aug. 4 - The Giants sign 10-year veteran Leon Hall, who played his first nine seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals since they selected him in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft.

Aug. 5 - In celebration of "Youth Day" at training camp, quarterback Eli Manning, defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul and Cruz speak with children and their parents after practice. Manning says, "For me, coming to the New York Giants, being the quarterback of the New York Giants, I wanted to set an example and be a part of the community, give back in some way."

Aug. 6 - Rookie cornerback Eli Apple dominates the longest and most physical practice of training camp. "Today was a big day for us," Coach McAdoo says. "We talked about that after practice. This is a big moment for us in training camp, a heavy-hitting, physical practice."

Aug. 9 - Leading up to the preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins, the team releases its first unofficial depth chart of the 2016 season. CLICK HERE

Aug. 9 - Victor Cruz's return to game action is delayed because of a tight groin. Cruz suffers the injury early in practice and is pulled from the rest of the workout

Aug. 12 - Coach McAdoo opts to sit Eli Manning for the preseason opener against Miami and start backup QB Ryan Nassib in his place. Propelled by a 24-yard catch by Sterling Shepard, the Giants score on the opening drive and build a 10-point lead in the first quarter. However, the Dolphins score 27 unanswered points and the Giants lose 27-10.

Aug. 14 - Veteran cornerback Janoris Jenkins grabs a rare interception off Eli Manning, who hadn't thrown one since the first snap of training camp. Meanwhile, defensive tackle Jay Bromley passes his physical and returns to practice.

Aug. 15 - Veterans with five-plus years of experience get to sleep in their own beds as they are allowed to check out of the training camp hotel. Players with four or less must stay there and operate under camp rules until after Saturday's preseason game at Buffalo.

Aug. 18 - The linebacker competition continues to heat up as Kelvin Sheppard and Jasper Brinkley rotate with the first team at middle linebacker. Brinkley was the incumbent after starting the final nine games of the 2015 season.

Aug. 20 - Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. play in their first preseason game of the year, but the team falls 21-0 at Buffalo.
