The Giants their Week 9 bye week at 6-2, the franchise's best start in a decade.
Brian Daboll's squad was unable to recreate their late-game magic against the Seahawks last week as their four-game winning streak was snapped. Still, it's hard to classify the first half of the season as anything short of a success for Daboll and the Giants. In his first year as head coach, Daboll led his team to a 3-1 record in both the first and second quarters of the season. The offense has one of the top rushing attacks in the league thus far, ranking in the top 5, while their red zone defense ranks second in the league, allowing a touchdown on 42.9 percent of opponents' trips into the red zone.
Despite last week's loss, the Giants remain strong in power rankings across the NFL landscape. Check them out below:

Comments: "It was bound to happen sooner or later. The New York Giants had been living on the edge. Every one of the team's first seven games was a one-score affair, which included six victories. There had been one fourth-quarter comeback after another. But there would be no magic Sunday in Seattle." -- Brent Sobleski, Maurice Moton and Gary Davenport

Comments: "Barkley has accounted for 38% of their total yards so far this season, second most of any player this season behind Tennessee's Henry. He's on pace for 2,057 all-purpose yards. That would top his rookie year numbers (albeit with an extra 17th game). Still, Barkley alone has been worth the price of admission. As long as he remains healthy, there is no reason to believe that will change. And he'll likely lead this light-on-talent Giants team to the playoffs." -- Jordan Raanan

Comments: "Inevitable a team that's outscored its opponents by six points collectively this season would eventually fall prey to its inability to throw the ball – especially when league rushing leader Saquon Barkley is contained." -- Nate Davis

Comments: "The Giants are a muffed punt away from nearly grinding their way to another win. While the loss was certainly frustrating for the fan base, this was every single week for the last five years. The Seahawks got some timely shoestring tackles to stall New York's drives and finally knived its secondary with a tough-to-stop double move that resulted in the momentum-changing score in the fourth quarter. This is a long way of saying the Giants do not possess the ability to get blown out. " -- Conor Orr
