Training Camp Confidential

**

TRAINING CAMP NOTES

*Coach Tom Coughlin said the starters will be on the field for 15-18 plays. "The seconds will play about 20-25 and then we'll let the thirds play anywhere from the end of the third on or maybe the top of the fourth," Coughlin said.

*Coughlin estimated 11 players will not suit up, including the four on the physically unable to perform list (Hakeem Nicks, Chris Canty, Travis Beckum and Clint Sintim). Those who did not practice today included cornerback Terrell Thomas (knee), tackle Will Beatty (back), linebackers Michael Boley (hamstring), Jacquian Williams (hip) and Jake Muasau (hamstring), defensive tackle Rocky Bernard (knee) and running back Da'Rel Scott (thigh contusion).

*Beatty has been sidelined most of training camp with a sciatica condition.

"(The doctors) think he's improving with the medication and the time he needs to fully recover to make sure that this is not a recurring issue," Coughlin said. "The days are just flying by. It's kind of a double-edged sword there."

*With Beatty not practicing, Coughlin was asked if he would consider moving right tackle David Diehl back to the left side.

"There are all kinds of thought of lots of stuff, but Beatty comes back next week," Coughlin said. "The idea is to get the best five out there."

*Today's attendance was 2,530. The Giants fly to Jacksonville tomorrow and will next practice at the University at Albany on Sunday.
