"Make the Case" has once again returned on Giants.com.
In this series, we look at projections provided by analysts and then ask you, the fans, to weigh in on what the Giants should do in the draft.
Next up is a debate on what the Giants should do with their first AND second round picks, as we take a look at the predictions from one of ESPN's top draft analysts Todd McShay and The Athletic's NFL Draft analyst Dane Brugler.
Pick for No. 25: Emmanuel Forbes, CB, Mississippi State
Height: 6-1 | Weight: 166
2022 stats: 12 games, 46 tackles (26 solo), one tackle for loss, six interceptions, 10 passes defensed, three defensive touchdowns
Accolades: Consensus All-American (2022), First-Team All-SEC (2022), Second-Team All-SEC (2021)
"Forbes is lean at 6-foot-1 and 166 pounds, but he has great speed and fantastic instincts in coverage. The Giants blitzed more than any other team last season (42.0%) but didn't have many ballhawks in the secondary to take advantage. Forbes would feast on mistakes forced by that pressure."
Pick for No. 57: Josh Downs, WR, North Carolina
Height: 5-9 | Weight: 171
2022 stats: 11 games, 94 receptions for 1,029 yards and 11 touchdowns, 10 punt returns for 133 yards (10.3 yards per return)
Accolades: Second-Team All-American (2022), First-Team All-ACC (2021, 2022)
"The Giants went another route in Round 1, but they aren't bypassing the receiver need here. Downs is undersized at 5-foot-9 and plays out of the slot, where New York already has plenty of options. But he plays with explosion and changes directions really well in the open field. Downs put together back-to-back seasons with more than 1,000 receiving yards and can help Daniel Jonesright out of the gate."
Pick for No. 25: Jordan Addison, WR, USC
Height: 5-11 | Weight: 173
2022 stats: 11 games, 59 receptions for 875 yards (14.8 avg.) and eight touchdowns
Accolades: First-Team All-Pac-12 (2022), Fred Biletnikoff Award (2021), Consensus All-American (2021), First-Team All-ACC (2021)
"The Giants' wide receiver situation is looking up thanks to the surprising play of Isaiah Hodgins, Wan'Dale Robinson's returning from injury and now Parris Campbell's addition. But in no way should that stop New York from continuing to add playmakers if it has a first-round grade on a receiver here."
Pick for No. 57: John Michael Schmitz, IOL, Minnesota
Height: 6-3 | Weight: 301
2022 stats: 12 games, allowed two sacks and eight total pressures on 302 pass blocking snaps
Accolades: First-Team All-American (2022), First-Team All-Big Ten (2022), Second-Team All-Big Ten (2021), All-Big Ten Honorable Mention (2020)
