AT A GLANCE

The New York Giants were unable to find the end zone and settled for five field goals in a 20-15 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football. The Giants fell to 1-3 on the season while the Cowboys improved to 2-2.

UP NEXT

The Giants travel to Seattle for the third time in five seasons. They will face a Seahawks team that puts their undefeated record to the test on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT THE OFFENSE

Last week, rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers became the first player in NFL history with at least 20 catches and three touchdown receptions in his first three career games. So, what did he have in store for his fourth? The sixth overall pick opened with a wide-open, 39-yard reception on third-and-four early in the first quarter. He ended his primetime debut with 12 catches for 115 yards on 15 targets.

The Giants were successful on their first three fourth-down conversion attempts, but not their fourth when Nabers couldn't quite haul in a catch on the sideline with just over three minutes remaining in the game. The Cowboys took over on downs with a 20-15 lead at the time. Making matters worse, Nabers suffered a concussion on the play.

According to NFL Research, Nabers is the third player in the Super Bowl era with 30+ receptions in his first four NFL games. The others are Puka Nacua and Anquan Boldin.

Daniel Jones completed 13 of his first 15 passes for 142 yards. He finished 29 of 40 for 281 yards with one interception on the Giants' final play.

Wan'Dale Robinson was right behind Nabers with 13 targets, which resulted in a career-high 11 catches for 71 yards.

Wide receiver Darius Slayton (thumb) was listed as questionable heading into Thursday night but suited up. He caught three passes for 56 yards with a long of 28 yards.

The Giants controlled the ball for nearly 19 minutes in the first half despite rushing for just 29 yards on 16 carries. Entering Week 4, Dallas allowed the most rushing yards per game (185.7) and carry (5.41) in the NFL.

Overall, the Giants won the time of possession 35:37 to 24:23.

Rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. broke a few tackles on a 19-yard catch-and-run early in the second quarter. It was the longest play from scrimmage in his young career.

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT THE DEFENSE

The Giants were down two cornerbacks (Dru Phillips and Adoree' Jackson) due to injury but got another one back in Nick McCloud, who started in the slot after missing the previous two weeks with a knee injury. Cor'Dale Flott, meanwhile, started on the outside opposite Deonte Banks.

Dak Prescott completed his first 14 of 16 passes for 164 yards and two first-half touchdowns, including a 55-yarder to CeeDee Lamb.

A week after they became the fourth team to have nine different players record at least half a sack in the same game since 1982, the Giants got to Prescott just once. Outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux took him down in a two-minute drill situation to end the first half, where the Giants were outscored 54-0 in their two meetings with the Cowboys last season. On Thursday night, they trailed 14-9 heading into the locker room.

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT SPECIAL TEAMS

Greg Joseph kicked for the second consecutive week after the Giants placed Graham Gano on injured reserve. The veteran made all five of his field goal attempts on Thursday night, including a long of 52 yards early in the game. Joseph missed his lone field goal attempt last week in his Giants debut.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. fumbled the opening kickoff of the second half but luckily the ball shot right into the hands of Giants tight end Chris Manhertz. The Giants weren't so lucky last week when Eric Gray lost a fumble on the first play of the game.

The Giants didn't punt until 2:57 left in the third quarter.
