Giants.com names three impact players from the team's seventh OTA practice:
OTA No. 7 is in the books.
The New York Giants were outside on the practice fields again at Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford. After today, they have three more organized team activities before next week's mandatory minicamp.
Here are three players who stood out on Monday:
TE EVAN ENGRAM
With Giants legend Mark Bavaro watching from the sidelines, Evan Engram led a big day for the tight ends. The first-round draft pick made some noise out and showed his growing chemistry on the field with quarterback Eli Manning, a fellow Ole Miss alum.
Engram had a handful of catches, and they all came from No. 10, the best coming on a nice back-shoulder play down the sideline. It was just one of many great catches made today at the QDTC.
WR STERLING SHEPARD
It seems like every practice begins with a Manning-to-Shepard connection. Today was another one of those times. The second-year wide receiver had two in the opening drive of team drills and took off from there. But the most impressive part of Shepard's game, at least for a rookie last season, was his production in the clutch. Manning's trust in him has only grown, which we saw today during a simulated two-minute drill to end practice. Shepard had three catches to bring the offense into field goal range.
TE WILL TYE
As mentioned before, the Giants started the week with a bunch of great grabs. When it was all said and done, it would be tough to argue against Will Tye's over-the-shoulder touchdown catch from Davis Webb as the play of the day. The rookie quarterback threw up a jump ball, and the 6-foot-2, 262-pound Tye came down with it. Tye had a productive day, just like Engram today and just like Matt LaCosse last Friday. It will be a fun competition to follow this summer in Kevin M. Gilbride's tight ends room.* *
Honorable mentions: quarterback Josh Johnson found wide receiver Dwayne Harris in the back of the end zone for a touchdown in the two-minute drill; Webb also finished the drill with a touchdown pass to undrafted wide receiver Keeon Johnson; cornerback Janoris Jenkins nearly had an interception across the middle to end the two-minute drill, but the Pro Bowler couldn't hold onto it; Manning threw a touchdown in the red zone to wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
Remaining OTAs: June 6, 8, and 9. Mandatory minicamp will be held June 13-15.
