On Monday, the New York Giants held their first of 10 organized team activities (OTAs) at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. This was the first time the offense and defense, as well as rookies and veterans, practiced together in preparation for the 2017 season.

WR BRANDON MARSHALL

The six-time Pro Bowl receiver and former Bronco, Dolphin, Bear and Jet is now a Giant after signing with the team back in March. Marshall, who is 59 receptions away from 1,000 for his career, looked as good as advertised in his first full practice. Starting with Eli Manning's annual offseason workout with the receivers at Duke University, Marshall and the two-time Super Bowl MVP have been building their chemistry and showcased it on Monday. Manning hooked up with the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Marshall a handful of times, including a deep ball down the left sideline.

"I am definitely excited about Brandon," Manning said at the beginning of the offseason workout program. "A talented guy, I think he'll be a great leader of this team and a great playmaker, and to give us another weapon, you are always excited about that."

SAFETY ANDREW ADAMS

When Steve Spagnuolo was asked last week about how he approaches the safety position, the defensive coordinator said, "It is an interesting question." While Landon Collins broke out with an All-Pro campaign 2016, undrafted rookie Andrew Adams started next to him for most of the year after Darian Thompson, a third-round draft pick, went down early with a season-ending injury. With Thompson's return, the competition gets interesting. On Monday, Adams put a checkmark in his column with the play of the day, swatting away a deep pass intended for Marshall.

"Look, this time of year, all jobs are open," Spagnuolo said. "Now when I say that, there are some obvious ones that come out. But I think that at that particular [safety] position, I think the guys realize that they have to come in and somebody has to surface. Whoever that is will start at the beginning and like every year, you need probably more than three. Nowadays, you probably need four, so we will see how it plays out."

TE EVAN ENGRAM

The first tight end drafted by the Giants in the first round since Jeremy Shockey in 2002, Engram has been busy studying the Giants' offense using flashcards with rookie roommate and quarterback Davis Webb. The preparation was put to the test today inside the fieldhouse. Engram, a 6-foot-3, 236-pound hybrid tight end from Ole Miss, made a highlight catch down the middle of the field, which is exactly where the Giants envision him as a matchup nightmare. The pass was thrown by backup quarterback Josh Johnson.

"I love [the offense]," Engram said at rookie minicamp. "Especially my position, the Y and U, how much we move around and stuff, puts the defense in binds, finding holes in the defense. It's a great offense, it's a lot, but I can't wait to really learn it.

Remaining OTAs: May 23, May 25, May 30-31, June 2, June 5-6, June 8-9
